Acute Laryngitis: Most cases of laryngitis are acute and often result from viral infections like the common cold. Acute laryngitis typically lasts for a few days to a couple of weeks. Resting your voice, staying hydrated, and avoiding irritants like smoking or excessive talking can speed up recovery.
Chronic Laryngitis: Chronic laryngitis can last for weeks or even months. It is often associated with factors like smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, or exposure to irritants. Treating the underlying cause is essential for resolving chronic laryngitis. Lifestyle changes and voice therapy may be necessary.
Laryngitis from Strain or Overuse: If laryngitis is due to vocal strain or overuse, recovery usually occurs within a few days to a week with proper voice rest and care.
